Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris was born October 20 1964. She is an American politician. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female elected vice president and she is also the highest-ranking female officer in the history of America. As a member of the Democratic Party, she previously served as attorney general for California from 2011 until 2017 and also as a United States senator representing California between 2017 and 2021. Harris was born and raised in Oakland, California. Harris began her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Then, she was recruited by the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. The office was named San Francisco district attorney in 2003. She was elected Attorney general of California in the year 2010. In 2014, she was re-elected. From 2017 to 2021, Harris was the junior United States senator for California. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez to become the first African American woman senator and the first South Asian American ever to be elected to the United States Senate. As senator, Harris fought for federal de-scheduling of healthcare, and the legalization of cannabis, a path to citizenship of undocumented immigrants, as well as the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. In the news, attention was paid to her shrewd questioning of Trump administration officials at Senate hearings. This included Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual assault.
